Ronde Earns Shutout Against Clarion

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (April 11, 2009) - Lake Erie College split with Clarion University at home Saturday afternoon, recording a 2-0 shutout in game one and then falling 20-3 in game two.

Freshman Sam Ronde (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) earned her fourth win of the season with the complete game in which she struck out four. She gave up just five hits in the game and had only one really close call in the sixth inning. Clarion singled in its first three at bats of the inning before Lake Erie got three consecutive put outs at home plate. The green and white had nine hits in the contest with sophomore Britt'nie Bartow (Stow, Ohio/STow) going 3-for-3.

In the second game, Lake Erie trailed 8-3 after four innings of play when Clarion pulled completely out of reach with two runs in the fifth and 10 more in the sixth. The Storm had two hits - a single from senior Katie Staats (Willoughby, Ohio/South) and a home run by freshman Megan Foley (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) - her sixth of the season.

Lake Erie (5-22) is at Mercyhurst College on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
