Tiffin and Findlay Up Next for Men's Soccer (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- Following a win at Walsh last weekend, the Lake Erie College men's soccer team will be back on the road with two matchups against conference opponents. The team will take on Tiffin on Friday (Oct. 7) at 4:00 PM and Findlay on Sunday (Oct. 9) at 1:00 PM.

Coach Brenner's Take: "As we start the second half of the season, all 3 points become even more vital as every team is now familiar with one another and everyone will be desperate to secure a playoff spot. I'm looking for the players to show more consistency as nothing is a given in this conference. We have had an excellent week of training and I'm excited to see them play Friday and Sunday!"

Storm Report: Lake Erie defeated Walsh on Sunday (Oct. 2) 3-0, improving the Storm's overall record to 6-3-1 and 4-3-1 in the GLIAC. Stuart Campbell (Glasgow, Scotland/Glasgow Academy) score two goals in the win over the Cavaliers. Miguel Espinoza (Perry, Ohio / Perry) added a goal while Hugo Fauroux (Cannes, France / Lycee Bristol) made five saves in his seventh clean sheet of the year.

Quick Kicks: Lake Erie is 4-1 on the road this season…Fauroux finds his name throughout the GLIAC and NCAA rankings for his season stats. He is 2nd in the GLIAC with 37 saves and a .881 save percentage…His save percentage ranks 6th in Division II individually and 5th as a team...The team's defense along with Fauroux has a .485 goals against average, good for 8th in DII and 1st in the GLIAC..With seven shutouts, the Storm is 3rd in the country with a .70 shutout percentage…Campbell is 5th in the GLIAC with 23 shots this year.

GLIAC Honorable Mention: Campbell and Fauroux were named to the GLIAC Honorable Mention list for Offense and Defense, respectively this week. Campbell scored two goals on eight shots (4 on goal) in two games. Fauroux totaled 11 saves with one goal allowed.

Series History: Lake Erie fell to Tiffin 2-1 in the first matchup of the year, bringing the series tally to 3-10 in favor of the Dragons. The Storm defeated Findlay 1-0 back in September, giving the Storm an 8-5 advantage in the series with the Oilers.

Opposition Position: Tiffin brings an 8-2 record for the year as well as a 6-2 GLIAC record into the matchup this weekend. The Dragons fell to Saginaw Valley on Wednesday (Oct. 5) 2-1. Findlay carries a two game winning streak into the weekend slate along with a 4-6 overall record and 3-5 record in the GLIAC. The Oilers defeated Ohio Dominican 3-2 in their last game.

Storm Forecast: After four straight games on the road, the Storm will host Ashland on Wednesday (Oct. 12) afternoon.
