Storm Travels to Ashland for GLIAC Matchup (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio-The Lake Erie College men's soccer team will continue the GLIAC schedule with a road matchup against the Eagles of Ashland University on Wednesday (Sept. 14).

Coach Brenner's Take: "With the short recovery window between GLIAC games this year, we have really put some focus on recovery and regeneration! Ashland and Northern Michigan will be two formidable opponents that have good coaching and players ready to prove themselves in the league. We need to be on top of our game and display the confidence and mindset we showed against the University of Findlay."

Storm Report: The Storm enters the Ashland game with a 3-1 overall record and a 1-1 GLIAC record. Lake Erie defeated the Findlay Oilers 1-0 on Sunday (Sept. 11). Jesse Schluter (Boksee, Germany/Kathe-Kollwitz School) scored the only goal in the Storm's shutout win.

GLIAC Honorable Mention: After the Storm's 1-1 weekend, two Lake Erie players were named to the GLIAC Honorable Mention list. Schluter was named to the GLIAC Honorable Mention list for offense. After the shutout on Sunday, goalkeeper Hugo Fauroux (Cannes, France/Lycee Bristol) was named to the HM list on defense.

NSCAA Rankings: Lake Erie has moved up to #7 in the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) rankings for the Division 2-Midwest region this week. The Storm was #8 last week.

Series History: Since 2009, the Storm and the Eagles have faced off seven times. Ashland holds a 5-2 advantage in the series. The last time the two teams played was 2012 and that ended a 2-0 defeat for the Storm.

Opposition Position: Ashland is off to a 2-0 start in the return to the GLIAC after a three-year layoff. The men's soccer program was discontinued after the 2012 season.

Storm Forecast: The Storm will travel to Northern Michigan University for a road GLIAC bout on Friday (Sept. 16).
