Men’s Soccer Adds Two to 2016 Recruiting Class

PAINESVILLE, Ohio-- Nearly two month after securing its initial signing class, Lake Erie College men's soccer team inked two additional student-athletes for the 2016 recruiting class.

"I think this signing class is a solid group, and we have just added two very experienced players to it. I always say I will be able to better tell in three years how good they really are," Lake Erie College head coach Kevin Brenner said. "We are very excited about this group, both as terrific soccer players and good students, this is a great academic group. Each player, collectively, is a good fit for Lake Erie College in many ways. It is up to these players to come in and work very hard, keeping up the soccer culture that has been built here at Lake Erie College."

Jesse Schluter (Boksee, Germany) standing 6'4"Jesse has played within the youth academy of Holstein Kiel primarily as a defensive center mid or as a center back. There he had the opportunity to play against some of the best teams in Germany like VFL Wolfsburg, Hamburger SV, Werder Bremen, Hertha BSC Berlin and a couple of other great clubs.

"Jesse will bring athleticism and a physical presence to our team," Brenner said. He has the technique and the tactical maturity to play multiple positions for us in the fall. I fully expect him to establish himself as an important personality in our locker room."

Max Maguire (Letchworth, England) a 6'2" has a natural goal scoring ability. He has tallied 30 goals each of the last four season while playing at Baldock FC and Arlesey Town FC. Max as also had a short stretch with Stevenage FC academy.

"Maguire has a proven goal-scoring record and has the ability to score a variety of different goals, "Brenner said. "He can provide an outlet option for our team, but he also possesses a directness to his game. He is a physical, hard-working player, who has been tested at every level. We feel that Max really complements the other attacking players that we have in our team and we expect big things from him straight away"

"We stress to recruits in that you come here for a double purpose, to get a soccer education and most importantly your Lake Erie College degree. It is a big decision for all of these guys, and we want people who are interested in coming here for the best of both worlds. Be a good athlete but also be a good student," said head coach Kevin Brenner.
