Men's Soccer Selected Fourth in GLIAC Preseason Poll

BAY CITY, Mich.—The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) unveiled its 2015 Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll Thursday (Aug. 20).

The Storm was selected to finish fourth in the conference.

Northwood University was voted to win the conference, receiving 44 overall points and two first-place votes.  Tiffin University received five first-place votes but only 43 overall points.  Saginaw Valley State University received 38 overall points and one first-place vote.  Following the Storm was Ohio Dominican University.  The University of Findlay, Walsh University and Malone University rounded out the poll, respectively.

Junior forward Stuart Campbell is the leading returning goal scorer for the Storm, tallying five last year.  Senior Anthony Novak will be a presence all over field, playing all three field positions last season and netting two goals.  Senior Ryan Gibson assisted on a team-high five goals last season.  Sophomore Chad Bencina also returns for the Storm after starting 17 games at midfield and forward as a freshman.

Filip Ljubevski returns for his senior year in net for the Storm.  Last season, Ljubevski allowed just 0.81 goals per game with six shutouts on record.  In front of Ljubevski is senior defenseman Joseph Coombs, who was an All-Region selection last year.  Aside from his defensive prowess, Coombs scored three goals and assisted on one last year.  Sophomore Kenneth Kolke also returns for the Storm after making 16 starts for the Storm on defense his freshman year.
