Ljubevski Named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich.—Lake Erie College men's soccer goalie Filip Ljubevski (Ajax, Ont./Pikering) was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference  (GLIAC) Defensive Player of the Week  for his performance in net against Northwood University and second-ranked Saginaw Valley State University this past weekend.

In all, Ljubevski made eight saves on the weekend and allowed just one goal.  At Northwood Friday (Oct. 3), he made three saves, including one on a penalty kick.  At Saginaw Valley Saturday (Oct. 5), Ljubevski held the Cardinals off the scoreboard through double overtime to help the Storm earn the draw.  Prior to the game, the Cardinals were averaging over two goals a game in GLIAC play.

On the season, Ljubevski has made 38 saves and is giving up less than a goal a game.  In the GLIAC, he ranks second in save percentage, third in goals against and fourth in saves.
