Storm Fall in Overtime Heartbreaker to Saginaw Valley

Lake Erie College (2-10-1, 0-10 GLIAC) led at halftime against GLIAC foe Saginaw Valley State University (8-4-2, 4-3-2 GLIAC) but could not hold on and fell, 2-1, in overtime in University Center, Mich.

Lake Erie scored its goal in the 32nd minute when senior midfielder Justin Mihaly (Lowellville, Ohio/Ursuline) found junior forward Marco Gaudio (Cambridge, England/Impington Village College) for the score.  The goal was the team-high sixth of the year for Gaudio.

In the second half, SVSU's Morley Burns scored in the 54th minute with the assist coming from Noah Sawyer.  The score stayed at 1-1 after regulation but just four minutes into overtime, Burns found Anthony Palazzolo for the game winner.

Lake Erie was outshot 15-8 in the contest but put more shots on goal than the Cardinals (5-4).

After making 16 or more saves the past two games, sophomore goalie Rick Carreira (Toronto, Ont./Dante Alighieri Academy) made two against SVSU.

The Storm continues their road trip with a 2:30 match at Northwood University on Sunday.
