Lake Erie’s Whites and Hunter Show Well At GLIAC Preview

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie senior Frank Whites III (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) and junior Troy Hunter (Aurora, Ohio/Crestwood) played some of their best golf of the year in the final tournament of the season at the GLIAC Preview Saturday (April 28).

The Storm finished 11th of 12 teams with a score of 325.  Ohio Dominican University won the team event, hosted by Ashland University at Elyria Country Club, with a score of 301 on the par 72 course. 

Whites placed tied for 12th as Lake Erie's top finisher with a round of 40-36-76.  Whites made three birdies in the round, which was just one off his season-best score of 75.

Hunter shot a career-best 38-40-78 to finish tied for 27th, including the lone eagle of the tournament.  The junior had not broken 80 prior to his strong round Saturday.  He did his best work on the par 4s, playing them in +1.

Rounding out the Lake Erie efforts were senior Matt Hennessey (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) and sophomore Tyler Walters (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal) with rounds of 45-38-83 and 44-44-88, respectively.
