BAY CITY, MICH.  – The Lake Erie College football team was picked to finish fourth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division this coming season by a vote of the league's coaches announced Wednesday (Aug. 15) in conjunction with the launch of the league's football media day website.

The Storm, 3-8 overall and 2-8 in the GLIAC in 2011, returns nearly 40 letterwinners and 13 starters from last year's squad as it prepares for its third season in what is arguably the toughest conference in NCAA Division II.  LEC also carries a two-game winning streak into the season, which kicks off Thursday night, Aug. 30, with "The Battle of Lake Erie" at Gannon University.

Lake Erie received 73 total points in the poll.  Ashland University is the preseason favorite to win the division, with the Eagles receiving 10 first-place votes and 113 points.  Ohio Dominican University is second with five first-place votes and 108 points, followed by the University of Findlay with one first place vote and 97 points.

Perennial national power Grand Valley State University was the coaches' pick in the North Division, just ahead of defending national runner-up Wayne State University.

The 2012 GLIAC Football Media Day Website is includes information on the upcoming campaign with video comments from respective head coaches, video highlights of top returning players and links to team media guides and information in addition to the preseason poll.  Additionally, the League's annual preseason preview will be featured and was written by Sandy Gholston.

This year marks the third-straight season in which the league has launched a media day website to promote the conference. Each head coach filmed a short video segment discussing their respective teams and the upcoming season.
