Football Coaches Poll Revealed, GLIAC Media Day Site Launched

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) unveiled its 2011 preseason coaches poll on Thursday, Aug. 18, in conjunction with the launch of the conference's football media day website.

Now in its second year as a member of the conference, Lake Erie College was picked to finish tied for fifth in the South Division, sharing the spot with the University of Findlay.  The Storm registered 36 points in the voting, just two shy of Ohio Dominican University.

Last year, its first in the GLIAC, Lake Erie posted a 3-7 league record (3-8 overall) and finished fourth in the South Division, with victories over Ohio Dominican, Findlay and Tiffin University.

Wayne State University received 10 first-place votes and is picked to repeat as South Division champion.  Ashland University was second in the voting, receiving the other four first-place votes.

 In the north, defending conference champ Grand Valley State was picked to win the division, claiming 13 first-place votes and 85 points. The Lakers, who begin the season ranked nationally in the top five, visit Jack Britt Memorial Stadium on Oct. 15.
