The Lake Erie football team opened kicked off spring sessions on Friday, March 18. The 15-date nontraditional season will include team practices as well as the annual Coaches Clinic on April 9 and the Green vs. White Spring Game on April 16 at Britt Stadium.
Head coach Mark McNellie announced the 14 student-athletes who have signed to play with the Storm beginning with the 2011 season on Thursday (Feb. 2), the day after the opening of the national signing period.
The Storm football team handed out its end-of-season awards and the team's annual banquet on Sunday, Jan. 23. The awards included special recognition awards, players of the year and the announcement of team captains for the 2010 season.
Juniors Sean Bedevelsky, Kenneth "Rudy" Glenn, Mike Gritz, Mike Hounshell and Brandon James were all named to the 2010 All-GLIAC Football Team as honorable mention selections. The conference squads, which were announced by the league office Nov. 17, were selected by the GLIAC coaches.
Lake Erie committed seven turnovers and Ashland's Joe Horn scored six touchdowns to lead the Eagles to a seventh straight victory at Jack Miller Stadium Saturday (Nov. 13). Andre Wells caught a record 79-yard TD pass for the Storm in the loss.
Lake Erie will put its three-game winning streak on the line in the final regular season game Saturday (Nov. 13) at Ashland at 1 p.m. The game can be heard live on ESPN 970 or LakeErieStorm.com and will air on SportsTime Ohio on a tape delay basis (check listings).
Lake Erie football will hold its annual Youth Day celebration on Saturday, Oct. 30, when the Storm hosts Ohio Dominican. All area youth football players will get in free by wearing their youth team jersey.
Storm junior quarterback Sean Bedevelsky became the first Lake Erie student-athlete to earn GLIAC weekly honors when he was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week Monday (Oct. 25) following his 441-yard, six-total touchdown game in the 48-45 win over Findlay.
Sophomore Sam Marcotte kicked a 22-yard field goal as Lake Erie rallied from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit for a wild 48-45 win at Findlay Saturday. Three Storm receivers had over 100 yards and Sean Bedevelsky threw for 441 yards and 4 TDs in the win.
Head football coach Mark McNellie will join hosts LeCharles Bentley and Jerod Cherry Tuesday night (Oct. 26) at Harry Buffalo Painesville for a live remote of ESPN Cleveland's "X's and O's with the Pros" at 7 p.m. T.J. Ward of the Cleveland Browns will be on site from 6-9 p.m. signing autographs for charity and will also be a guest on the show.

Lake Erie will host just the second home night game in school history this week when the Storm plays GLIAC South Division co-leader Wayne State Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. with a fireworks show to follow the game.
Storm football coach Mark McNellie will be a featured guest on the "X's and O's with the Pros" radio show's live broadcast from Harry Buffalo Painesville on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. Cleveland Browns rookie Joe Haden will also be a guest on the show and sign autographs during his appearance.
Coming off its near upset of #12 Hillsdale, the Storm returns home for just the second time this season Saturday (Oct. 2) against Ferris State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in the annual Homecoming/Alumni Weekend game.
Freshman Chris Brown rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown, but the Storm scored a touchdown just once on four trips inside the Bulldogs 20-yard line in a 22-12 setback. Lake Erie outgained Ferris State 351-310 in the game. (WITH VIDEO)
