Four Storm Baseball Players Receive G-MAC Honors

MASON, Ohio- The 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference awards for baseball were announced tonight at the team banquet. Four Storm players received honors.

Senior pitcher David Lemasters was named to the G-MAC First Team All-Conference for his absolutely dominant season this year. The Senior had a regular season record of 5-1 with an ERA of 2.89. Additionally, Lemasters had 60 strikeouts and a strikeout per nine innings average of almost 12. 

Named to the second team included senior Nigel Williams, junior Ryan Middendorf, and sophomore Trace Peterson.

Williams went .333 at the plate during the regular season, posting an on-base percentage of .414 and a slugging percentage of .586. He hit three doubles, two triples, and six home runs with only 19 strikeouts in 30 games.

Middendorf had a strong junior season on the bump for the Storm, ending up with a .500 win/loss record. Middendorf recorded a 4.63 ERA while earning 36 strikeouts. 

Trace Peterson followed up his freshman season with another conference honor in 2019. The sophomore posted a batting average of .380, an on-base percentage of .488, and a slugging percentage of .650.

Receiving Honorable Mention Honors for the Storm were senior Evan Layne and junior Caleb Waller. Layne posted a record of 5-3 with 72 total strikeouts. Waller hit for an average of .265 at the plate and an on-base percentage of .408 and a slugging percentage of .503 with 10 home runs.

The Storm will take the field in their first game of the 2019 G-MAC Tournament at 1pm on Wednesday, May 8.
