Storm Begins Homestand with Dragons, Lakers (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio-The Lake Erie College baseball team will begin a seven-game homestand with a doubleheader against Tiffin on Wednesday (April 12) and a four game series with Grand Valley State on Friday (April 14) and Saturday (April 15). The DH with Tiffin begins at 2:00 PM while the doubleheaders against GVSU will start at 1:00 PM and 12:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Storm Report: The Storm are 8-21 overall and 2-14 in the GLIAC. Lake Erie was swept by Northwood in a four game series on the road over the weekend. Corbin Paxton (Sylvania, Ohio / Sylvania Northview) and Drew Potesta (Canfield, Ohio / Ursuline) are tied atop the batting average category for the Storm with a .385 average. Pitchers Michael Stryffeler (Sagamore Hills, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) and Connor Ryan (Strongsville, Ohio / Strongsville) are tied for the lead with 27 strikeouts.

Opposition Position: Tiffin comes to Painesville with a 16-17 overall record and 8-8 GLIAC mark after dropping three-of-four at Saginaw Valley State last time out. Devon Fisk leads the Dragons with 25 runs, 41 hits, eight doubles and a .366 average. Grand Valley State enters play Wednesday with a 17-13 record and a 5-7 conference mark. The Lakers split a series with Ohio Dominican and will play Ashland before coming to Painesville. Austin Ladoux leads the Lakers with a .425 average.

Series History: Lake Erie has faced off with Tiffin and Grand Valley State 22 times since the Storm joined the GLIAC. Tiffin and Lake Erie split the 2016 season series but the Storm has a 15-7 overall record. Lake Erie is 7-15 against the Lakers after the two teams did not play in 2016.

Storm Forecast: The Storm will conclude the homestand with a single game against Mercyhurst next Tuesday (April 18).
