Storm Set for North Carolina Trip (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- After winning three of four games on Opening Weekend, the Lake Erie College baseball team will travel to North Carolina for four games against two opponents. The Storm will face UNC Pembroke on Saturday (Feb. 25) with two games at 1:00 and 4:00 PM and one game on Sunday (Feb. 26) at 12:00 PM. On Monday (Feb. 26), the Storm will travel to face Mount Olive in one game at 3:00 PM.

Storm Report: The Storm are 3-1 after the team won three games at Kentucky State last weekend. Wes Birchmeier (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) led the Storm with a nine-for-15 series with seven extra base hits, two homeruns and eight RBI.

Birchmeier Honors: Birchmeier was named GLIAC Player of the Week for his performance along with being named Midwest Region Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Opposition Position: The Braves enter the series with a 10-1 record after a 5-2 win over #22 Lenoir-Rhyne. As a team, the team is hitting .355. Mount Olive is currently 7-4 with a team batting average of .284. The Trojans are led by Ricky Surum, who is hitting .442 through 11 games.

Series History: Lake Erie has never faced UNC Pembroke before while the Storm and the Trojans have met once before. The Storm defeated Mount Olive 11-2 in 2010.

Storm Forecast: Lake Erie will face Concord in a three game series next weekend on the road.
