Diamondmen Tabbed Eighth in GLIAC Preseason Poll

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball coaches picked Lake Erie College to finish eighth in their voting for the 2012 GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll released Thursday (Feb. 16).

The Storm, who won a school record 21 games last season in its first year as a member of the GLIAC, picked up 31 points in the voting, one point behind Tiffin University and three points away from Northwood University.  Lake Erie swept all four games it played against the Dragons last season and two out of three from the Timberwolves.

LEC was 21-26 overall and 14-20 in the GLIAC in 2011, remaining in contention for a playoff spot up until the next-to-last day of the regular season.

Grand Valley State University, winners of five of the previous six GLIAC regular season crowns, was picked to win the conference again this season. The Lakers received eight first-place votes and 80 total points to rank ahead of Wayne State University with 68.  Ashland University and Tiffin were the two other schools to receive first-place votes.
